The Bongo RX starter kit contains:
- 1 x Clamshell Travel Case
- 1 x Headgear
- 4 Soft silicon nasal seals in Small, Med, Large and Extra-Large sizes.
- Drying stand
The Bongo Rx reusable nasal EPAP device is indicated for use in patients with mild-to-moderate sleep
apnoea and/or snoring. Bongo can be used as a primary treatment device or as a supplementary product
where it is not convenient or possible to use a CPAP device, such as during a camping trip or on an aeroplane.
The small, silicon device is gently inserted into each nostril and worn for the duration of sleep.
During inhalation, a small valve opens at the end of each nostril to allow a free and uninhibited breath in.
During exhalation, the valves close and restrict expiratory flow of air through smaller vent holes generating
Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure, or EPAP. EPAP significantly expands the upper airway and eliminates
vibrations of the soft palette that cause snoring. When nasal dilation is increased, inhalation capacity is
increased in turn. Nasal dilation coupled with EPAP therapy has a significant impact on improving the
functionality of the airway during sleep.
• EPAP is a clinically proven, effective treatment for eliminating mild OSA and snoring, with a significant
number of research papers and journal articles confirming efficacy.
• Bongo Starter Kit includes 4x cushion sizes (small, medium, large and X-Large) of the nasal inserts
to accommodate most nasal structures. An optional headgear, drying stand and hard travel case are
• Users should purchase a starter kit initially to determine the appropriate cushion size. A replenishment
pack with 4x correct size cushion can then be purchased if a user is compliant with EPAP therapy
• Supplemental therapy option for CPAP users that travel frequently, or CPAP non-complaint persons
• Tiny and discrete, requiring no power to operate. Fits in a pocket or handbag.
• The reusable device is washed and cleaned between uses. Device lasts for 90-180 nights of therapy
BongoRx is a new alternative treatment designed to treat mild to moderate sleep apnea.
If you have mild - moderate obstructive sleep apnea and aren't ready for a CPAP machine or just need a travel alternative, the Bongo RX Sleep Therapy device may be for you. The Bongo RX does not require any power supply which makes ideal for travel. Unlike Provent and Theravent or other nasal snoring strips, the EPAP device is reusable and small enough to fit in your pockets so you can use it anyplace.
The Bongo RX is an FDA-cleared and TGA registered sleep apnea treatment (OSA) and snoring. During inhalation, small valves open to allow normal breathing through the device. During exhalation, the valves close and direct exhaled air through small vents to generate EPAP, which keeps the airway open. Resistance Between Theravent Max Snore Therapy and Provent Sleep Apnea Therapy. Studies show the treatment efficacy is equivalent to Provent.
The Bongo Rx has soft nasal seals that seal within the nostrils. During inhalation, small valves open to allow you to breathe normally through the device. During exhalation, the valves close directing exhaled air through specifically designed vent holes to generate EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure), which keeps open the airway until you inhale again. This could be a great option if you have mild to moderate OSA.
The Bongo RX starter kit contains:
The Bongo RX is an Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure (EPAP) therapy device for mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and snoring. This reusable nasal EPAP device is indicated for use in patients with mild to moderate sleep apnea who prefer them to PAP devices, who do not respond to, are not appropriate candidates for, or who fail treatment attempts with CPAP.
The BongoRX device consists of a conjoined set of soft nasal EPAP valves inserted in the nares creating back pressure on exhalation, making it a potentially viable alternative to PAP therapy for patients with mild-to-moderate OSA. The portability and usability of the Bongo Rx are its key differentiating factors when compared to other EPAP devices. BongoRX Sleep Therapy device works by creating resistance on exhale of breath.
During inhalation, small valves open to allow you to inhale normally through the device. When nasal dilation is increased, the inhalation capacity is likewise increased. During exhalation, the valves restrict expiratory flow of exhaled air through specifically designed vent holes to generate EPAP (Expiratory Positive Airway Pressure), which significantly expands the airway. Nasal dilation coupled with EPAP has a significant impact on the functionality of the airway during sleep.
Please Note: This device will NOT work effectively if you have an AHI greater than 30 (more than 30 episodes an hour) which is referred to as Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
